See demonstrations like never before

The working demonstration areas are what make Hillhead unique. Having the opportunity to see plant and equipment doing a real ‘job of work’ in a live quarry environment is invaluable for both exhibitors and visitors alike.

There are four separate demonstration areas:

Quarry Face - multiple benches make up this impressive demonstration area where over 35 machines can work in tandem. Large excavators, wheel loaders, dumptrucks, dozers, hydraulic breakers, screening buckets and mist cannons can work in this area.

Rock Processing - also known as 'Crusher Alley' where a range of tracked and skid-mounted crushers, screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors can be viewed.

East Demo Area - located to the east of the exhibition site, this area shows a range of specialist crushers, shredders, screens and washing equipment.

Registration - this area hosts rock processing and recycling demonstrations.

New for 2026: Curated Demonstrations

Hillhead is introducing an exciting new way to experience the latest big kit in action at the Quarry Face demonstration area.

At selected times throughout the day, leading manufacturers will showcase their machines as part of a dynamic curated live show hosted by broadcaster and technology presenter Nikki Dean. Combining live machine operation with expert commentary and manufacturer interviews, all the action will be streamed onto a giant LED screen set against the dramatic quarry face backdrop.

Visitors will get to see exactly what the machines can do in real working conditions, while learning more about the latest product developments, technologies and innovations directly from the experts operating them.

Curated live demonstration sessions will take place daily at 11:00, 12:30 and 14:00 in the Quarry Face Demonstration Area. Confirmed participants already include JCB, Hitachi, LiuGong, Hyundai, CASE, McHale, Komatsu, SANY, Develon, XCMG, SBM and Corgin, with additional manufacturers set to be announced. A full timetable will be available from late May.

Quarry Face

The Quarry Face Demonstration Area is one of Hillhead’s big attractions. Following blasting operations, around 20,000 tonnes of run-of-quarry stone have been moved into position ready for the live equipment demonstrations. The area hosts more than 35 machines and utilizes three benches along an extended length of quarry face.

    CASE presents an equipment package designed to enhance productivity, efficiency, operator comfort and safety across daily quarrying and recycling operations, featuring the CX210ES crawler excavator alongside the 921G+ and 1121G+ X-DRIVE wheel loaders.

    LiuGong’s live quarry demonstration showcases a fully integrated battery electric quarry solution in operation. The DR50CE rigid mining truck, 4280DE motor grader and 8110TE wheel loader work together as a connected fleet, delivering high productivity, zero tailpipe emissions and reduced operating costs in demanding quarrying applications.
    Under the theme ‘Expert Insight. Proven On Site.’, the demonstration highlights more than 10 years of battery electric vehicle (BEV) development and over 20,000 electric machines delivered globally.

    SBM REMAX 450 hybrid diesel-electric mobile impact crusher
    See the SBM REMAX 450 put through its paces at the Hillhead quarry face. This hybrid electrified mobile crushing and screening solution is engineered for quarrying, recycling and high-efficiency aggregate production, processing limestone at rates of up to 450 tonnes/h while consuming less than 25 litres of fuel per hour.

    Together, the systems demonstrate effective dust control at source, across large working areas and on unmade surfaces. From mobile misting technology to water-saving surface treatment, Corgin’s solutions support site safety, operational efficiency and environmental compliance.

Rock Processing

Fondly referred to as 'Crusher Alley', this area draws visitors across the whole western end of the Hillhead showground to see a range of tracked and skid-mounted crushers and screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors.

Supported by a Kobelco SK350LC excavator supplied by M O’Brien Plant Hire, the live demonstration will showcase efficient crushing, screening and material separation equipment working in demanding quarry applications.

The demonstration will feature Volvo's A30 articulated hauler, ECR355 crawler excavator, EWR150 wheeled excavator and EC230 Electric excavator working alongside the McCloskey J5 jaw crusher and GIPO RR 130-10-10 roller grizzly plant. Visitors will see material extraction, loading, haulage, pre-screening and crushing demonstrated in live quarry conditions, showcasing productivity, efficiency and sustainability across the entire production process. East Demo Area

The East Demonstration Area attracts crowds to the east end of the site, where construction and demolition waste is imported on to the site to feed a range of specialist crushers, shredders and screens.

Alongside this, a selection of excavators, wheeled loading shovels, site dumpers, breakers and screening buckets will also be in action.

Fondly referred to as 'Crusher Alley', this area draws visitors across the whole western end of the Hillhead showground to see a range of tracked and skid-mounted crushers and screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors.

The demonstration will feature Volvo's A30 articulated hauler, ECR355 crawler excavator, EWR150 wheeled excavator and EC230 Electric excavator working alongside the McCloskey J5 jaw crusher and GIPO RR 130-10-10 roller grizzly plant. The East Demonstration Area attracts crowds to the east end of the site, where construction and demolition waste is imported on to the site to feed a range of specialist crushers, shredders and screens.

Alongside this, a selection of excavators, wheeled loading shovels, site dumpers, breakers and screening buckets will also be in action.
