Explosion Proof Absolute and Incremental Encoders

Explosion proof certified rotary encoders are designed to operate safely in atmospheres where there are potentially dangerous levels of explosive gases or dust. These devices are part of the IXARC family of magnetic and optical rotary sensors and are available in single- or multi-turn versions as well as programmable incremental encoders. Rugged, reliable, and highly accurate, these devices can be ordered with a wide range of mounting and coupling options that ensure that they can be installed in zones 1/2 and 21/22 As defined from the ATEX/IECEx/UL/CCC regulations.

Explosion Proof Inclinometers

POSITAL has extended its TILTIX family of inclinometers (tilt sensors) to include explosion-proof models designed to operate safely in environments that contain potentially dangerous levels of explosive dust or gases. These devices have been certified in compliance with IECEx and ATEX directives and are suitable for use in underground mines, oil and gas facilities, agricultural applications, chemical plants, woodworking factories and milling operations.

Large Variety

Like other TILTIX inclinometers, the new models are available in single (0-360°) or dual-axis (± 80°) versions and feature resolution as high as 0.01° and 0.1° accuracy. Available communications interfaces include J1939, CANopen, Modbus RTU, SSI, and analog output. Analog models can be programmed so that a predetermined range of mechanical motion is set span the full electrical output range. Rugged aluminum and 316 stainless steel housings are offered, with other materials available by special order.

ATEX Rated Absolute Encoders

Division 1 (Gases/Vapors/Mist) – An area in which an explosive mixture of the is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.

Division 21 (Dusts/Powders) – An area in which an explosive mixture is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.

Division 2 (Gases/Vapors) – An area in which an explosive mixture is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs will exist only for a short time.

Division 22 (Dust/Powders) – An area in which an explosive mixture is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs will exist only for a short time.
