At T&C Site Services, our Carbon Balancing initiative is a key part of our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the OTR tyre industry. In partnership with Carma, we actively work to offset carbon emissions generated through tyre supply, use and associated operations by supporting large-scale tree planting projects.

The tyre industry plays a significant role in global carbon emissions and we recognise the responsibility to act. Carbon dioxide levels continue to rise due to industrial activity and carbon balancing provides a practical way to help counteract this impact. Through our programme, we aim to balance a significant proportion of the carbon footprint associated with the tyres we supply.

Tree planting is central to this initiative. A mature tree can absorb up to 22kg of CO₂ per year, while also producing oxygen and supporting biodiversity, improving soil quality, reducing flood risk and contributing to long-term climate stability. Trees also provide long-lasting environmental benefits, often living for hundreds of years.

Our partnership with Carma supports structured reforestation projects with both environmental and social value. Alongside carbon reduction, these projects include nature-based therapy programmes that support UK armed forces veterans, helping them engage with outdoor work that promotes wellbeing and recovery.

We encourage customers to participate in the scheme, with the option to contribute additional tree planting per tyre supplied. Through this collaboration, up to 50 trees may be planted for every tyre, significantly increasing the positive environmental impact.

The Carbon Balancing initiative is part of our wider commitment to sustainability and responsible industry leadership. By integrating environmental action into our operations, we help customers reduce their carbon footprint while contributing to reforestation, biodiversity and community wellbeing.

Together with Carma, we are working towards a greener, more sustainable future—turning tyre supply into a force for environmental and social good.
