Inspiring the next generation

Inspiring the next generation

While the pandemic has brought a lot of disruption to businesses, it is now important to look ahead so the industry can prepare for the changes that are inevitably coming as the economy begins to recover from the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.

Finding the next generation of quarry professionals has been a pressing issue for the wider construction industry, particularly as COVID-19 is changing the working landscape. It starts early by sparking the interest of young people through STEM initiatives.

But what new challenges has COVID posed when it comes to engaging schools and colleges? And for those who joined the industry this year – how can employers deliver an effective onboarding programme?

In Wainwright’s presentation paper entitled ‘Inspiring people: talent pipelines and managing staff in a time of Covid’, Lisa Saunders, people and culture director, will be looking at the challenges that Post COVID-19 is bringing to effective people management, from training and development to resilience and flexible working.

Ms Saunders will draw on her extensive experience to address these key issues and more in an engaging, interactive workshop.
