Quarry Face:
Curated Demos

Curated Live Demonstrations, Big Kit & Quarry Action

One of Hillhead's headline attractions, the Quarry Face demonstration area once again delivered an unrivalled opportunity to see some of the industry's largest and most advanced machines operating in a live quarry environment. Stretching across three benches along an extended section of quarry face, the area hosted more than 35 machines in action throughout the three-day show.

New for 2026, selected Quarry Face demonstration sessions featured specially curated live shows hosted by broadcaster and technology presenter Nikki Dean. Combining live machine operation with expert commentary, manufacturer interviews and giant-screen coverage overlooking the quarry face, the sessions gave visitors a closer look at machine performance, technology and operator capability in real working conditions.

Curated sessions took place daily at 11:00, 12:30 and 14:00, featuring a rotating line-up of leading manufacturers including JCB, Hitachi, LiuGong, Hyundai, CASE, McHale, Komatsu, SANY, XCMG, SBM Mineral Processing and Corgin.

CASE

CASE demonstrated equipment designed to maximise productivity, efficiency and operator comfort across demanding quarry and recycling applications. Across the three days, visitors saw both the 1121G+ X-DRIVE wheel loader, the CX210E-S crawler excavator and the 921G+ wheel loader in action, with expert commentary from Massimiliano Ventura, Excavator Product Manager at CASE Construction Equipment, highlighting the versatility and performance of CASE's latest machine range.

Corgin

Corgin demonstrated a range of dust suppression technologies designed to improve site safety and environmental performance. Featuring the MistCannon Ranger, DustLayer, MistCannon Integral and DustFast systems, the live demonstrations showed how effective dust control can be achieved at source, across large working areas and on haul roads while reducing water consumption. The session was presented by Giles Heap, Sector Lead, Construction & Industry at Corgin, who explained how different dust suppression strategies can be tailored to individual site requirements.

Hitachi

Hitachi's ZX490-7 large excavator took centre stage during its Quarry Face demonstration, showcasing the increased workload capability, fuel efficiency and reliability of the latest Zaxis-7 generation. Designed for demanding quarry environments, the machine demonstrated the strength and productivity needed for high-output extraction operations, with insights from Nick Woolliscroft, Territory Sales Executive at Hitachi Construction Machinery UK.

Hyundai

Hyundai showcased its latest quarry package with the HX400L Next Generation crawler excavator working alongside the HA45A 4x4 articulated dump truck. Operating together in a live loading and hauling cycle, the machines demonstrated fast loading performance, efficient material movement and the advanced safety, productivity and operator comfort built into Hyundai's latest generation of quarry equipment. The demonstration was presented by Ben Carrington, UK Product Manager at Hyundai Construction Equipment.

JCB

JCB demonstrated the performance of its flagship 520X excavator alongside the 420X, highlighting efficient hydraulic systems, high breakout forces and fast loading cycles. Working in live quarry conditions, the machines illustrated the durability, stability and productivity required for heavy-duty excavation and bulk material handling, with commentary from James Higgs, Commercial Manager for Large Excavators at JCB.

Komatsu

Komatsu demonstrated the latest HM460-6 articulated dump truck working alongside the WA485-11 wheel loader in a live loading and hauling cycle. The demonstration highlighted smooth bucket control, rapid cycle times, high payload capacity and the fuel-efficient performance that underpins the company's quarry equipment portfolio. Visitors also heard from Juuso Ahola, Product Manager Large Machines at Komatsu Europe, and Pelham Milligan, Wheel Loader & ADT Sales Manager at McHale Komatsu, who explained the technology behind the machines.

LiuGong

LiuGong presented one of the Quarry Face's most innovative demonstrations, showcasing a fully integrated battery electric quarry solution. The DR50CE rigid mining truck, 4280DE motor grader and 8110TE wheel loader operated together as a connected fleet, demonstrating how zero tailpipe emissions, lower operating costs and high productivity can be combined in real-world quarrying applications. The demonstration was led by James Green, Product Manager for Wheel Loaders at LiuGong Europe, who explained the company's Total Solution Strategy and long-term approach to electrification.

SANY

SANY demonstrated how its machines work together to maximise efficiency across the quarry face. The SY500H excavator supplied material to the crusher while the all-electric SW956E wheel loader handled material movement, highlighting fast cycle times, precise control and the integration of high-performance and electric equipment in modern quarry operations. Jonathan Smith, Dealer Sales Manager at SANY, provided expert insight into the machines and the company's growing electric equipment portfolio.

SBM Mineral Processing

SBM Mineral Processing put its REMAX 450 hybrid diesel-electric mobile impact crusher through its paces in the Quarry Face demonstration area. Processing limestone at rates of up to 450 tonnes per hour while using less than 25 litres of fuel per hour, the machine demonstrated the efficiency and flexibility of modern hybrid crushing technology for quarrying and recycling applications. Norbert Dieplinger from SBM Mineral Processing, was joined during the session by Barry O'Regan, Owner of Orba Group, to discuss the development and adoption of hybrid crushing technology.

XCMG

XCMG demonstrated the XE300E excavator working alongside the XC998 wheel loader in a live quarry environment. Together, the machines showcased smooth hydraulic performance, rapid loading capability and heavy-duty productivity, highlighting the engineering and operator-focused design behind XCMG's expanding range of quarry and construction equipment. The demonstration featured commentary from Stephen Huntley, Head of Construction at XCMG.
