Wirtgen Group showcase latest technologies at Hillhead 2026
The Wirtgen Group's latest equipment and technologies proved a major draw at Hillhead 2026

THE Wirtgen Group attracted strong interest at Hillhead 2026, presenting a comprehensive display of machinery and technologies for material processing and road construction that highlighted the company's integrated approach to productivity, sustainability and digitalization.

Under the theme 'You'll Never Crush Alone', the group showcased equipment from its Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann, and Benninghoven brands, with particular attention to advanced crushing and screening solutions and to locally emission-free road construction technologies.

A key attraction was the Kleemann Mobicat MC 110 EVO2 jaw crusher, which drew visitors with its distinctive exhibition livery and high-productivity design. The company also showcased a fully electric asphalt recycling train comprising the Mobirex MR 100 NEOe impact crusher and the Mobiscreen MSS 502 EVO coarse screening plant, providing a locally emission-free solution for asphalt recycling. Additional Kleemann equipment on display included the Mobiscreen MSS 802 EVO and MSC 702 EVO screening plants.

In the road construction sector, Wirtgen introduced their battery-powered road rehabilitation system to the UK market. Combining the Wirtgen W 50 Ri cold milling machine, the Vögele SUPER 1300-5e paver and the Hamm HX 70e tandem roller, the system delivers locally emission-free road resurfacing and is designed to support sustainable infrastructure projects in urban environments.

The company also highlighted the Benninghoven MULTI JET burner, described as the world's first asphalt plant burner capable of operating entirely on green hydrogen, providing CO₂-free heating and drying of virgin and recycled asphalt materials.

In the plant hire sector, Hamm showcased the new HD 12 G VV tandem roller alongside the versatile HC 70i VIO, which integrates vibration and oscillation compaction technologies in a single machine.

Alongside their equipment portfolio, the Wirtgen Group demonstrated a range of digital technologies designed to improve machine performance, precision, and productivity. Solutions including Jobsite Intelligence, Smart Automation, Smart Level Pro, Smart Pave, Smart Compact Pro, AutoPilot 2.0design, and SPECTIVE CONNECT are intended to simplify machine operation, improve quality and increase efficiency through advanced automation and real-time jobsite data.

According to the group, integrating machinery, digital technologies, and customer support helps contractors achieve higher productivity, reduce material consumption, and consistently deliver high-quality project outcomes.

‘Hillhead 2026 has once again demonstrated how important close technical dialogue with our customers is,’ said Paul Holmes, managing director of Wirtgen Ltd, summing up the successful trade fair appearance. ‘The positive discussions we had on site have shown that our holistic approach – thinking within the context of our customers’ production systems – delivers real added value in addressing their challenges.’
