WEG to showcase high-efficiency motor solutions

AT Hillhead 2026, WEG will showcase a range of new motor and drive technologies designed to improve efficiency, reliability and operational performance in demanding quarrying, construction and recycling applications.

Among the products on display will be the new W22 Prime motor, the W23 Sync+, the W23 Sync+ (explosion-proof IP65 version), the W80 AXgen and the WG20 geared motor range. WEG specialists will be available throughout the show to discuss the latest additions to the company’s portfolio, including the W22 Prime, the next generation of its W22 induction motor platform.

Designed to meet IE4 and IE5 efficiency levels without an inverter, the W22 Prime combines the robustness of traditional induction motor technology with improved energy performance. The motor has been developed for heavy-duty applications where equipment is subjected to high loads, harsh operating conditions and extended running hours.

Suitable for direct-on-line (DOL) operation, the W22 Prime offers a straightforward route to improved efficiency without increasing system complexity. It is also compatible with variable-speed drive (VSD) operation, providing additional flexibility for operators seeking greater process control and energy savings.

‘Quarrying and aggregates operations are major energy users, so even incremental efficiency gains can significantly reduce operating costs and emissions,’ explained Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for WEG UK and the Middle East. ‘At Hillhead, we want to show that improving efficiency need not mean adding unnecessary complexity. The W22 Prime allows users to upgrade to IE4 and IE5 efficiency while retaining the reliability expected of a WEG induction motor.’

WEG will also showcase their W23 Sync+ motor line, which combines permanent magnet and synchronous reluctance technologies to deliver high efficiency across the speed range. For environments where safety and protection are critical, WEG will highlight the explosion-proof W23 Sync+ with IP65 protection, supporting applications where dust ingress and hazardous-area requirements must be carefully managed.

The W80 AXgen, WEG’s axial-flux motor, will also be on display. Its compact, space-efficient design allows OEMs and systems integrators to minimize machine size while delivering high performance. Also on the stand will be WEG’s WG20 geared motor range, designed to deliver reliable performance and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of industrial applications.

Visitors to the WEG stand will be able to learn more about the WG50 motor platform, developed specifically for heavy-duty applications in demanding industrial environments. Featuring a robust design, low vibration and reduced maintenance requirements, the WG50 is engineered to deliver dependable long-term performance where reliability is critical.

Visitors will also be able to learn more about Technidrive’s automatic jaw crusher unblock system, which uses a WEGmotion Drives package to minimize disruption caused by crusher blockages. Designed to improve safety by reducing manual intervention, the system allows a VSD to be remotely activated in unblock mode. This helps operators clear stopped or fully loaded crushers quickly and efficiently.
