RKX Rock Extraction to premiere electric-driven breaker
The RKX-Volt 100k electric breaker delivers high-precision rock extraction with less noise, vibration and environmental impact

RKX Rock Extraction Ltd will make their show debut at Hillhead 2026 with the launch of the RKX-Volt 100k – a new electric rock breaker designed to offer a high-performance alternative to conventional drilling and blasting.

The RKX-Volt 100k will make its first worldwide appearance at the Buxton exhibition. It has been engineered for quarrying, construction and recycling applications, where precision extraction, reduced environmental impact, and operational flexibility are increasingly important.

Powered by cutting-edge British-developed electric drive technology from YASA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group, the RKX-Volt 100k breaker is designed to replace or complement traditional blasting methods in applications where vibration, dust, noise or regulatory restrictions pose operational challenges.

Weighing approximately three tonnes, the breaker is compatible with 20-tonne-class excavator carriers and delivers a single-strike impact force of up to 100,000 joules of breaking energy, with operating rates of up to 20 strikes per minute. The electrically driven system has also been designed to minimize shock loading on both the breaker and carrier machines, thereby enhancing durability and reducing wear.

According to the company, the RKX-Volt 100k offers a combination of high-impact breaking performance and environmentally focused operation, producing significantly lower levels of noise, vibration and dust compared with conventional rock extraction methods. The electric breaker also offers integrated telemetry and data collection, allowing operators to monitor performance and operational data in real time.

The RKX-Volt 100k has been developed to address the growing demand for more sustainable and controllable rock-breaking solutions, particularly in urban, environmentally sensitive, and highly regulated working environments where blasting may not be practical or permitted.

Hillhead 2026 will provide visitors with the first opportunity to see the RKX-Volt 100k in action, as RKX Rock Extraction introduce their latest electric rock-breaking technology to the global quarrying and construction industries.
