The new Komatsu HM460-6 articulated dumptruck

MCHALE Plant have announced the arrival of several new Komatsu machines for the UK and Irish markets, strengthening their wheel loader, articulated dumptruck (ADT), and intelligent excavator offering ahead of Hillhead 2026.

The company has confirmed that it will showcase the next-generation HM460-6 ADT, representing the latest evolution of the HM400-5 platform and over a century of engineering innovation.

Powered by a new Komatsu engine and transmission combination, the HM460-6 delivers 22% improved fuel efficiency, alongside reduced emissions and lower operating costs. An increased body capacity of 25.7 m³ ensures target payloads can be achieved with typical quarry material densities, boosting productivity on every haul.

Smart features, including cruise control, hill start assist, waiting brake, and semi-auto dumping, improve operator control, reduce fatigue and enhance efficiency. The machine’s cruise control automatically adjusts throttle and retarder input, while waiting brake technology improves safety during loading and dumping cycles.

The HM460-6 ADT’s all-new cab features a larger operator environment with improved visibility, a leather, air-suspended, heated, and ventilated seat, a foldable trainer seat, ergonomic controls, a digital dashboard, and a 10-inch rear-view monitor.

Safety features of the articulated dumptruck include rollover prevention, machine inclination monitoring, body height limitation and a seat belt reminder system with an external beacon, ensuring multiple layers of operator protection.

The new WA475-11 and WA485-11 wheel loaders introduce Komatsu’s next-generation hydro-mechanical transmission (HMT) and a newly developed high-torque engine.

The WA485-11 delivers a 29% improvement in fuel efficiency over the WA480-8, with increased payload and bucket capacity, and aggregate handling capacity up to 9,300 kg. The optimized Z-bar linkage provides up to 20% more lifting power and improved productivity in V-shaped loading applications.

Both wheel loaders feature advanced emissions systems that meet EU Stage V standards, combining Komatsu DPF and SCR technology, with extended service intervals that reduce lifecycle costs.

At Hillhead, McHale Plant will also highlight the PC220LCi-12, Komatsu’s most advanced intelligent excavator to date, which combines digital integration, efficiency, and operator-focused design.

Powered by a 129kW next-generation engine, the machine delivers an 18% reduction in fuel consumption, saving approximately 2.1 litres/h compared with the previous model. A new hydraulic system increases digging forces by 7%, improving productivity and reducing the cost per tonne.

The P+ mode further boosts performance, delivering an 18% increase in productivity and a 20% increase in fuel efficiency. The redesigned cab offers 30% more legroom, improved visibility, premium seating, and intuitive controls, supported by an eight-inch touchscreen monitor and fully customizable hydraulic settings. Operator ID allows personalized machine settings for up to 50 users.

Also, on display at the McHale Plant stand will be the new 13-tonne Komatsu PC130-11E0 mid-sized excavator, designed for ease of transport, fuel efficiency and long-term durability, making it ideally suited to utility works, small construction projects, and rental fleets.

Key features of the machine include a Stage V-compliant engine with long-life Komatsu diesel particulate filter (DPF), alongside HCU-A and HCU-C auxiliary hydraulic circuit options to support a wide range of attachments. Operators benefit from a spacious cab with automatic air conditioning, a seven-inch high-resolution LCD monitor, KomVision camera system, Komtrax telematics, and DAB radio as standard.

The PC130-11E0 is available with 700mm triple grouser or 500mm road-liner tracks, ensuring flexibility across varied applications.
