Digger Guard to unveil ‘Sky Shield’ weather-protection system

AT Hillhead 2026, Digger Guard have announced that they will unveil their latest innovation, Sky Shield, a new-to-market weather protection system designed for mini- and micro-excavator operators using open-cab machines.

Positioned as the first-of-its-kind aftermarket solution in the UK and Ireland, Sky Shield addresses a long-standing gap in operator protection. The system is engineered to shield users from rain, wind, sun and site debris, helping to reduce weather-related downtime while improving comfort and productivity on site.

Developed as a robust yet lightweight polycarbonate canopy system, Sky Shield is supplied as a non-invasive, easy-fit kit that requires no drilling, preserving machine integrity and resale value. The modular design allows for a high degree of customization, with options including roof-only protection, additional back and side panels, clear or tinted UV-resistant finishes, and sun visors.

Designed and manufactured in the UK by Digger Guard, the system can be tailored to fit virtually any make or model of open-cab mini or micro excavator. This flexibility allows operators and fleet managers to specify the required level of protection for different applications and working environments.

According to Digger Guard, Sky Shield has been developed with a strong focus on operator usability, ensuring fast installation, no machine interference, and effective protection in adverse weather and during prolonged sun exposure.
