NOCN is set to unveil new digital improvements to its Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) at Hillhead 2024

NOCN Group, an international educational charity which has been creating opportunities through ‘skills solutions’ for more than 30 years, is set to unveil new digital improvements to its Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) at Hillhead 2024.

CPCS, which NOCN took over from CITB in 2019, was launched in 2003 to apply common standards for all plant operators, helping firms to comply with the necessary regulations and requirements. It is the plant partner scheme of the overarching Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and is widely recognized and accepted across all UK construction sites as evidence of plant operatives’ skills, knowledge, understanding, competence, and qualifications.

NOCN offers the full suite of CPCS services from testing and e-learning to card issuing and administration. The wider NOCN Group also offers regulated qualifications, Apprenticeship End Point Assessment, endorsed programmes, and short courses with the construction and built environment sector.

The CPCS scheme is constantly being reviewed and updated to make it as fit for purpose and future-proof as possible and NOCN will be showcasing a number of new innovations at Hillhead on exhibition stand RC19. These initiatives are in line with CSCS’ vision to digitize job cards.

As well as new online CPD from NOCN, which will replace the CPCS Renewal Test on 22 August 2024, a new online Health, Safety & Environment Test and Digital Logbook will be featured.

NOCN is also launching its new CPCS Skilled Plant Operative Card for operatives outside of the CSCS footprint. This includes those working within off site manufacturing, transport logistics, manufacturing, and engineering.

Carl Hassell, director of CPCS from NOCN Group, said: ‘Hillhead 2024 will be a fantastic opportunity for plant operatives, their employers and others to find out about the latest developments in CPCS cards and tests. We’re excited to roll out the new innovations, which are designed to make the process of obtaining and renewing CPCS Cards as streamlined as possible while maintaining the industry’s high standards in safety and skills, and we’re here to support the transition over the new online systems which we hope will make operatives and employers lives easier.’
