ABMEC

ABMEC, is the UK trade association representing British Mining Engineering and Commerce; its members include equipment manufacturers, service providers and educational establishments.

Today ABMEC has over 50 member companies, and collectively they represent £1billion of UK export business. The companies design and supply mining equipment and services for surface and underground mining of soft and hardrock materials such as coal, potash, gypsum and salt. Members’ expertise also includes quarrying, tunnelling, marine and O&G.

UK companies have excellent proven results at extracting minerals, using best practice and the highest safety standards, while delivering cost effective solutions for demanding and challenging environments. Members are competitive in global markets, while complying with tough legislative controls.

While we all strive for a circular economy, in the meantime we support the responsible mining policies and strive to provide the world with a better standard of living.

If it can’t be grown (or fished), it has to be mined.

Association services include information gathering and dissemination, networking opportunities, the chance to partake in inward and outward missions and access to government funding.
