Company demonstrates comprehensive approach to best-practice dust control and management
Tarmac recently spent three days with companies from around the world at the biennial Hillhead exhibition – a showcase event for quarry machinery, equipment and services.
Held at a non-operational Tarmac quarry near Buxton, Hillhead is the biggest exhibition of its kind in the world, attracting more than 19,500 visitors and around 550 exhibitors from across the globe.
Tarmac hosted a stand at the show and took the opportunity to demonstrate their comprehensive approach to dust management.
The company highlighted the importance of effective dust control through ensuring that the correct safety measures and equipment are in place, particularly in relation to protecting employees from exposure to the short-term effects of dust inhalation, and reducing and eliminating dust-related health issues.
Simon Grey, Tarmac’s director of health and safety, said: ‘We were really proud to use Hillhead as an opportunity to show companies from around the world what best-practice dust management looks like, as part of our strong commitment to the safety and well-being of our people.
‘Creating a safe environment for anyone involved with our operations is fundamental to how we manage our business, so this was a brilliant opportunity to spread that message and showcase just a few of the initiatives we have in place.’
Tarmac were joined on the stand by 3M, a science-based technology company that supplies safety equipment to the company, including dust masks and protective glasses. 3M also brought a variety of safety equipment for visitors to examine, test and learn about.
