Launch of new MPA Driver’s App and the MPA Company Car & Van Handbook at Hillhead 2018
The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is inviting Hillhead visitors to attend a focus on Vulnerable Road User (VRU) safety and the launch of its new Driver’s App and Company Car & Van Handbook at 11.00am on Tuesday 26 June in the QMJ Group/Tarmac pavilion (H1).
Recent data indicate that the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists sharing road space with other vehicles is still very much an issue for the mineral products industry. More than 200 vulnerable road users are killed or injured in collisions with tippers and truckmixers every year, and the MPA was a founder member of the Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) initiative which aims to help professional industry drivers avoid collisions with other road users.
Nigel Jackson, chief executive of the MPA, said: ‘We are launching two important new products designed to expand and enhance our VRU Toolkit for the industry: a new Driver’s App, in partnership with CLOCS, to help drivers achieve the highest standards in their day-to-day work; and a new handbook for company car and van drivers, designed to complement the Driver’s Handbook for larger vehicles (launched at Hillhead 2016 and now exceeding 60,000 distribution).’
