HILLHEAD 2007 PULLS IN THE CROWDS

HILLHEAD once again attracted another huge crowd despite the unseasonably wet weather ahead of this year’s event. Total attendance at Hillhead 2007, which took place over three days from 26–28 June, was a remarkable 18,500 – just 5% down on the record-breaking attendance at the previous show during the hot summer of 2005.

And confirming the event’s status in the international trade show calendar, over 1,700 of this year’s visitors came from outside the UK, with no fewer than 80 different countries represented at the show.

Many exhibitors expressed their delight at this level of interest from overseas – one even reported serious enquiries from over 30 countries spanning every continent with the exception of Antarctica! Moreover, exhibitors were virtually unanimous in the view that the calibre of visitors from both home and abroad was also of particularly high standard this year.

As usual, around 450 leading international manufacturers and suppliers took part in the biennial event at Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire, where the 140,000m2 showground was packed with the latest plant, equipment, machinery, materials and services for the quarrying, heavy construction, recycling and related industries, much of it on display and live demonstration for the first time in the UK.
