Hawkes' screen media cutting system uses a 40-ton cutting force to cut rubber from 3mm to 70mm in thickness (and thicker) on request. Waste slugs from 3mm to 100mm are automatically removed by conveyor, while very strong pneumatic clamps ensure the material cannot move during the cutting process. Hawkes say the screen media design software supplied with the system has revolutionized screening media design. It is easy to use: no CAD, spreadsheet or off-screen calculations are required; screens can easily be designed in 10min and any design can be used, including standard, staggered and mixed layouts; and unpunched areas can be designed anywhere on the screen. The software automatically advises on the best tool selection and calculates the appropriate tension and stretch.
